"Dark Observatory" simply consists of Holland working on paintings in front of a live audience, and giving a running commentary all the while about his views on art, Kentucky, and whatever else pops into his head. This will be Holland's most marathon session over, as he intends to spend as much of his waking hours as possible painting for the public (and chatting with them) for the duration of the four days. "Icons of the Wilderness", a new exhibition of recent paintings by Holland, will simultaneously be held in the lobby of the nearby Jesse Stuart Lodge. Although described by JSH as "A basic iconographic account of Kentucky's history, known and unknown, for the past zillion years", one can always expect the unexpected when looking at things through his eyes. Jeffrey Scott Holland's primitive "Southern Gothic" style of art has hung in galleries and museums in New York, Los Angeles, London and Paris in the last twenty years. In January, he performed "Dark Observatory" in the prestigious Actors Theatre in Louisville. http://www.jeffreyscottholland.com/ http://parks.ky.gov/resortparks/go/
